About Us

I create gifts from card, paper or vinyl. The majority of which can be personalised. All gifts are assembled by hand.

Paper Robin is a small family run business.  During lockdown I started crafting to keep busy. I'm post kidney transplant and high risk of Covid so was unable to safely work outside my home, despite wanting to. I started gifting handmade items to friends and family. Soon word had spread to friends of friends. Due to my condition I struggled with manual die cutters, so for Christmas I asked for donations towards an electric one. I returned to work where I continued to make gifts for colleagues. I soon realised I needed a website so that people can see what I have available and how much they cost, so Paper Robin uk was created.

Why did we call ourselves Paper Robin?

I took a long time trying to choose a name. I couldn't find anything unique using my own name that wasn't already taken. I didn't want to limit my business by calling it a card shop or something that I couldnt branch out from. I wanted something personal to me, but that was short and easy to remember. I thought of naming it after my kidney donor and step dad Alan, or my Grandad who coincidently is also called Allan, both of which are no longer with us and very loved and missed. I considered using combining my name with theirs but I still didn't like it and the ones I did like were already taken. In our family we say 'robins appear when loved ones are near'. Some say a feather or a dragon fly, but for us its robins. I liked the idea of having a robin in my name and after a long debate I decided on PaperRobin. Although I may eventually branch out into Vinyl or digital designs, papercraft is what i enjoy most so i believe i'll always have some paper/card crafts in my shop.
